Gentle Detox

Detoxes are really popular now! Everyone seems like they are trying to detox from something. There is a lot to cover on this subject.

But first thing to know is that our bodies and our kids bodies naturally detox every day.

The top things that need to really be looked at are healthy food, clean water, sleep and daily poops.

Sometimes though we may need some support in cases maybe of toxins that you or your child has been exposed to and need to supplement to help get the body to get rid of those toxins.

A gentle detox that you will find below is very simple and easy to do at home. If there is some toxins present then there is also some natural suggestions down below which you can look into as well. This is not the same type of detox that you would look into if you were trying to support your body in a post vaccine detox.

If you need further support in that area I hope you consider the online wellness clinic and set up a call.

Lifestyle

Water

Most city water that you would get from the faucet has some sort of chemicals in its water. A good resource is this website here to see how your city is affected.

It’s important have clean water because you do not want to overload your system with toxins that it’s constantly trying to clear out.

We used to use the Berkey water filter but then when we moved to our homestead we started buying filtered water. There has been really good feedback from other people with using reverse osmosis as well.

Food

Always try to eat organic if you can. Looking at ingredients and seeing if you know what’s on the list. I recommend listening to this episode here with Dr Anthony Jay about food ingredients and what you need to look out for. If you do not know where to start with good food look into Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen by EWG.

Air

During the colder months or even during times of illnesses going around, getting some air flow or an air purifier can be beneficial. There is often a lot of stagnation which can happen in the air and if you get it moving with an air purifier or even having an open window for a little bit, it could make a huge difference in toxin buildup.

Another thing to consider is talking shoes off when you or your children enter the house. It could be a hard habit to start if you haven’t implemented it regularly but there is a lot of things that are left on shoes such as environment toxins, viruses/bacteria or pesticides.

Daily Detox

This is a gentle daily detox which you can do for yourself or even for your children.

Epsom Salt Baths

Epsom salt flushes the gastrointestinal tract and encourages detoxification. The reason why Epsom Salts are my favorite is because magnesium absorbs best through the skin. With our topsoil being depleted of many minerals, this is a great way to get magnesium into the body.

Fiber

Adding foods like flax seeds, chia seeds, lentils, berries, and beans are all a great source of fiber. Fiber is important because it is a natural binder which binds to toxins and helps to get rid of those toxins through the digestive tract.

Massage

If you use any type of oil such as jojoba oil or castor oil to support good bowel movements. A good breakdown of how to DIY a massage can be found here.

Short Term Detox

If you need more support for a detox if there has been exposure to toxins that you are aware of with maybe some perasites then you can look into some of these items.

Herbs

You want to look at herbs that are a a bit bitter for yourself such as dandelion or burdock, and also will help the stomach move things along which coat the stomach lining such as marshmallow root or slippery elm.

My favorite to use that is safe for kids is fennel with a combination of chamomile and lemon balm which are antispasmodic as well as being digestive aids.

If you are looking for a tea for yourself then there is a combination of coriander, cumin and fennel which you can combine all the spices and drink before meals that help your digestion.

Glutathione

“Glutathione is an antioxidant produced in cells. It’s comprised largely of three amino acids: glutamine, glycine, and cysteine.

Glutathione levels in the body may be reduced by a number of factors, including poor nutrition, environmental toxins, and stress.” (1)

If you’re looking for more support to get the body to get rid of toxins then glutathione is a great supplement which can even be taken by kids. Again this is one for a certain window of time to take and not one you would continue to use as part of your wellness plan.

Fiber

Just like the gentle detox you can do everyday, fiber is very important when supporting your gut. Aim for implementing fermented foods daily and not giving up on eating chickpeas, beans, lentils, yams or cashews. Even though regular whole foods is where you wanna get your nutrients and fiber from, sometimes it’s easier to implement a Modified Citrus Pectin for a short amount of time.

Final thoughts

Your body detoxes naturally every day. But sometimes, when we fast and then feast, we might need a little more help with detoxing.

Sometimes we are exposed to unwanted toxins and parasites, in which case our body might need a little more support to help get rid of them.

There are things that you can do for yourself or even your children every day which does offer that support to the body such as fiber increase.

Other times if you know there is something that you have been exposed to or there is a build up of something, herbs and supplements can be implemented as well.

If you need specific support in this area, I hope you consider the online wellness clinic for your needs.

I hope this gives you some ideas for natural gentle approaches to a detox!

God bless you and yours,

Krystina
