DIY Fall Room Sprays You Need to Try

Feeling that crisp air starting to creep in to notifying you of the change in season to come. It is officially Fall right?

When thinking of Fall, I automatically think of certain scents, pine cones, apple picking and apple cider that warms the house. We tend to smell different things in the baking area of life, as we begin to try and keep the house warm. Maybe you are not even surrounded by those smells or leaves turning (raising my hand here) but wish you were. It is easy to choose one of your favorite oils and use it. Cinnamon (cinnamomum zeylanicum) – Best avoided if using multiple medications or anticoagulants. If you have sensitive skin it is best to do a patch test before using this oil. It’s therapeutic properties include being an analgesic, antibacterial, anti fungal, antimicrobial, antiviral.

Patchouli (pogostemon cabin) – There are no known contraindications for this oil and its therapeutic properties include being an antidepressant, anti fungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-septic.

Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis) – Best to avoid this during pregnancy. Some therapeutic uses of this oil include muscular aches and pains, muscular weakness, headache, gastric upset, edema, acne, sinus congestion, respiratory conditions.

Cardamom (elettaria cardamomum) – No known contraindications. Therapeutic uses include intestinal cramps, nausea, constipation, migraine, bronchial congestion, mental fatigue, muscle cramps and strains.

Sweet Orange (citrus sinensis) – No known contraindications. Uses include anxiety, constipation, detoxify, stress relief, tension, depression, insomnia.

Ginger (zingiber officinale) – No known contraindications. Main uses include fatigue, nausea, IBS, nervousness, mental exhaustion, colds, chills, sinus congestion, digestive issues, motion sickness.

Clove (syzygium aromaticum) – Avoid any long uses of this oil. Avoid using it undiluted on skin and do a patch test before applying it if you have sensitive skin. Avoid during pregnancy. Therapeutic uses include pain relief, bacterial infection, fungal infection, muscle pain, gum disease, tired limbs, flu, stomach cramps, bronchitis.

DIY Room Spray

What you need:

1/2 tsp (2.5ml) Liquid Veg Glycerin, 1oz spray bottle, water

Directions for each blend: Pour glycerin and essential oil mix into spray bottle and swirl to combine. Fill the rest of the cup with distilled water. Put lid on and shake to mix. To use spray around the room as needed. DO NOT spray in face.

Fall Leaves

  • 6 drops sweet orange
  • 1 drop patchouli
  • 1 drop ginger

Spice up Autumn

  • 4 drops sweet orange
  • 3 drops ginger
  • 2 drops cinnamon

Pumpkin Spice Latte Spray

  • 3 drops cinnamon
  • 2 drops ginger
  • 2 drops clove
  • 2 drops sweet orange
  • 1 drop cardamom

Spiced Chai Latte

  • 3 drops cardamon
  • 2 drops cinnamon
  • 2 drops clove
  • 1 drop ginger
