Essential Oils for Pregnancy Fatigue

For my first child in my 3rd trimester I was always tired. Pregnancy fatigue was so real and all I wanted to do was sleep, my overall energy level was just down. Essential oils helped tremendously while adding full time work on top of fatigue. I remember just wanting my energy back so I can be my old self again.

Are you at that point right now?

Pregnancy Fatigue

Pregnancy fatigue is a very common complaint from pregnant women. It can happen in any trimester but the 3rd trimester is when it seems to be the most expressed with mothers. Sometimes it might hit you like a ton of bricks and you just want to sleep all the time. At other times, no matter what you seem to do, you are still tired.

Looking at what is happening to your body it is very understandable why we feel so exhausted. It is a huge toll on your body and that is why taking care of ones self is really important.

By now you might have heard that essential oils are very beneficial for our well being.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are used as part of aromatherapy for relaxation and to prepare for birth.

A special note here, your body might react differently to this blend. These are safe oils to use during pregnancy but you might not feel it working. That is ok. You can use this blend in a bath by adding it to a solubol or a massage. If you feel like this blend works well for you, it can also be used after birth as part of self care.

What you need:

Lavender – 8 drops
Grapefruit – 7 drops
Frankincense – 5 drops

Mix the blend together. If you are using it in a body rub then mix 2 drops of the blend with your choice of carrier oil. There is coconut oil that is popularly used or to add a little more scent you can use sweet almond oil. Mix the blend with 5ml (a teaspoon).

Bath Uses

If you are using it in a bath, use 3 drops of the blend with a little bit of carrier oil inside your bath water. A reminder to get out of the tub slowly and warn people using the bathtub next that the surface might be slippery due to the carrier oil.

To use essential oils in a bath, it is recommended that you mix the oil with a carrier oil or a solubol, due to the concentration of the essential oil and irritation it might cause the skin without the even distribution of the carrier oil. HERE is a great article on safely using essential oils in a bath.

Using it with a foot soak, use 4 drops of the blend in a bowl of warm water to put your feet in.
